The photograph shows our Chairman John Morris preparing about 40 of our used football kits which the club has donated to a charity in the West African Commonwealth republic of GAMBIA.
An appeal by Bolton couple Rod & Judi Arthern for junior & senior football kits for use by the 63% of the population living in the rural outlying areas of the country, is part of thier life long association with the communities.
As the smallest country on mainland Africa, Gambia has a third of the population living below the international accepted level of poverty. Their main income is derived from fishing, farming and tourism.
The shirts & shorts will be used to encourage football teams/leagues to develop between a number of farming communities where football is popular but facilities & kits are virtualy non existant.
